I was wondering if anyone has had this problem with a 4 stroke before. I just bought this motor this year. It had 10 hours on it. I have ran it for a few weeks and had no problems at all. Sunday I was out for a drive and about 1 1/2 hours into the day as I was driving full throttle all of a sudden there was a funny sound not grinding but not a good sound either coming from motor . I then noticed the oil pressure light was on. I turned the throttle off and put the motor in neutral. After about 30 seconds since I was in the middle of the ottawa river I put the motor back in drive. The oil pressure light was off and stayed off for the remainder of my drive to shore. What could have happened here. Should I take it to a dealer.
I bought it used so I have no ideal about waranty. The oil was just changed and this model I was told by George's marine has no oil filter only a gas filter.
They do not have a filter to replace but they do have a screen type of filter. Check the oil level and find out what type of oil was used when it was last changed. That light incdicates low oil pressure so there might be some type of obstruction caused by build-up on the screen filter. Also it's an 05 and a 4 stroke and that means if it was not properly broke-in it could be buring oil not a good sign. This will be visible at start-up, faint blue cloud of smoke. Check those things out first.
