i ahte to but her away and im not just yet bt the snow got me thinking.... u change the lower unit oil at the end of the season to prevent any water in it from freezing..... its freezing out and i dont want my motor to bite the dust but i stilkl wanna get out a few times.... should i change it now and risk water gettin in on the next few trips or should i wait and hope it dosent freeze?

One can never tell when a seal will go...or line gets caught round the prop/shaft etc and damages the seal resulting in the infgress of water. Fishing line, particularly braid will make short work of a shaft seal! 'Sods' law usually prevails I have found.
I would suggest you wait till you are finished with the boat completely before winterising. Then you KNOW all is well with the lower unit and everything else before you stow it away for the winter. Peace of mind is worth a lot...right?

hey all ive gotten contradicting advice on fogging my motor..... i was under the impresseion that u get it hot then let it idol down and fog it to death then pull the plugs spray some foggin oil in the cyllinders put teh plugs back in allow the pistons to move a lil to spread it and keep it dry for the winter (as well as changing the lower unit oil) however a few people have suggested keeping the plugs otu.... i would imagin moisture in the cyllinders being a BAD idea.... how do u all do it
