I just got a motor from a buddy of mine he does not want to fix it but I will, but the only thing is wrong, where is spark plug goes into the hole thingy, is no good anymore I got some pics aswell,,,, anyone know where I can get a part near caledonia-HAmilton-Dundas ONTARIO or replace it myself.....
You will need to get a heli-coil replacement thread, there is a tool to rethread the block and then glue in the heli-coil insert. To prevent the cuttings from getting into the cylinder, You will need to take the head off also, when you do the you will need a new head gasket and re-torque the head bolts. Some people will try to do this without taking the head off, it can be a risky venture.
good luck with this.
well thanks guys for the help on the heli-coil I had one of my buddies that works at a maching shop here in caledonia, he told me he could probably re-thread it but the only thing Is I don't want the steel chips falling down so what should I do, I also have some some pictures of the motor cover, I am planning to repaint it so I taped around all the decals, now what kind of good marine paint could I get......
Re move the heads and new gaskets remember to torque them back on the right way but this is the only thing I can see to fix your problem properly other tan I wish i had the mother in my basement to work on. Good luck
this motor does not have a head! ie. no head gasket, no head!! what you see in the picture is water jacket cover removed..
2 options to fix this.. one just doing it as the way you see it.. if you dont want thread bits to fall in.. put some auto grease in the hole when you are re-threading it.. or put it on the threader tool.
another option is to complete disassembly the power head assembly and remove the pistons.. then that will give you access to the inside and you can clean off the threads... for that age of a motor, i go with the first option.. no doubt!
