Hi,
New to this forum but not to fishing. The names Lawrence euteneier and I grew up in southern Ontario fishing for Trout in the numerous small streams situated around my home town, georgetown, and Salmon in the larger rivers in the fall. got my first boat at age 13 -- a 12 foot Mirrocraft with an 8hp Chrysler. This tinny got me hooked on Bass, Pike and Musky. Had that boat for over 15 years before the ice or someone took her away one winter. Moved up next to a 17 foot Oliver with a 120 OMC I/O drive, but recently had to scrap her due to excessive wrot in the stern. don't get me wrong, I got lots of play and value out of my two boats for what I paid for them.
Anyway, my dear wife convinced me to buy a travel trailer this year so my options for buying a new boat are limited to what I can shove up on to the roof of my Sub's roofrack. I like the reviews these Port-O-botes (foldable portable fishing boats) are getting, and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them, or if anyone knows where I might be able to buy a used one.
I've been living in Ottawa now for about 15 years and I work in the government. Between my wife and I, we got five kids, but given the two oldest aren't living with us anymore, the chances of all of us going fishing at once are now slim to nil. I'm hoping a Port-O-Bote will get me through the next five years or so while I pay off this trailer, and then I want to get myself something a little bigger like an 18 Port erie Cat.
I look forward to learning lots from this site and from what I've read so far, I'm looking forward to meeting you folks some day.
cheers,
lawrence
