Re : Repowering a boat

Post by rli »

I'm seriously thinking of repowering my boat from 70 HP to 115 HP. Would
like to know about the following ;

1) How easy is it to sell a 6 years old Evinrude (Suzuki) 70 HP 4-stroke
engine (in mint condition) ?

2) Logistics of removing the engine from the boat before or after the
sale ? (would buyers like to see the engine on the boat or removed)

Any feedback from people who have gone thru this is greatly
appreciated.

Thanks...Richard

Usually if you're selling it privately then the person will want to go for a test-drive then take it to a dealer for a once-over. If you're trading it to a dealer then it will be the dealer swapping the engine anyway so they'll do their own diagnostics etc.

God bless the Suzuki is all I have to say. lol. Hope you're getting another!

Definitely leave it on the boat for people to see it run, even if you run it with mufflers on.
No one wants to part with a few thousand dollars without seeing the motor work
