I've NEVER heard one single person buy a lund and say they were unhappy with it.......

I'm sure those people are out there. But I've yet to come across one.

That alone would do it for me...... if those were my two choices.

If I would change my boat, I would go for a G3. I went to the Montreal boat show couple weeks ago. I spent over an hour talking with a guy who guides with G3 boats... (he's not a salesman...). I was going back and forth between Lund, Princecraft and G3 booth to compare everything... I am definitely sold on G3 boats... The bonus is they all come with Yamaha 4S motors and they are priced aggressively. My boat has a 90HP 2S and a 9.9HP 4S. I am not really happy with them...next I'm going Yamaha. I wasn't going there to buy but I almost did...such sweet boats.

Definitely consider the G3 boats...

Like many have said. Both are good boats.

I agree with Sheldon, look at more then just aesthetic value.

Something important to keep in mind. Most complaints about a product really have to do with dealer service. Make sure you buy from a dealer that will back you up.

In order,

1) Princecraft
2) Lund

Stick with those and you won't go far wrong...as the old saying goes...'you gets what you pay for...pay now or pay later!!!!

Which boat to buy.

Post by Joey Rat »

I have a 2005 Lund, 1650 Rebel with a 50 Honda 4 stroke, purchased new as a non current model in 2006.

I didn't buy my boat at DK Dodd's but I have it serviced there. They may be the only LUND/Honda dealer in the area or at least the closest.

BTW no reason not to buy there I just got a great deal at a place in Lindsay. Nobody local would touch it.

Never had a complaint on any work they have done and they are up to date on Honda service bulletins. Good people to deal with and I feel like I've been treated fairly.

If you go that route, I think you'll be in good hands.

I have owned and fished hard in both Princecrafts and Lunds. My last boat was a Lund 1625 classic Tiller and the new rig is another Lund, a Rebel XL 1725 SS. Never a problem with either brand but the Lund does offer more useable storage.
If anyone is looking for a good deal on a used but in excellent shape Lund Classic 1625 tiller, drop me a line and I'll send you the link. BTW the boat is in South Lancaster.

I bought a Crestliner 2 years ago. Fishhawk 1600 with a 75hp Mercury Optimax. It is really a great boat. All welded and lot of storage compartments. I bought it at Andre Lalonde in Wendover and the service is great. He will be at the Sportsman Show in Ottawa this here and until Sunday he is at St-Laurent shopping mall. Take a look at Crestliner before making your final decision.

I have a Lund WC 14 with a 15hp Honda. The whole package including trailer was purchased at DK Dodds. I have nothing but excellent things to say about them. I would definitely purchase another boat there and have no hesitation in recommending them. There after sales service has been all a customer could ask for and more. If you want more details or have any specific questions about them just shoot me a pm.

Id like to offer my help as buying a new was harder for me then buying my house :?

I think you need to look at the style of fishing and bodies of water your going to be on most. Dont forget about dealer service either. I bought my boat from a dealer that at times I wish would be more helpful after I made a 30 grand purchase!

Eye-Tracker is very helpfull and once again has highlighted the key features to look for in a strong well made boat.

My boat is a Legend 18xcal Canadain made! All welded and im happy with her 100% If I were a fish only guy on the water then maybe I would have made another purchase. But for me the Legend xcal is a good all around boat. I can fish out in the BOQ all day no problems. Or pull haul around 5 people for a fun day on the water.

Goodluck with your New Boat :D [/img]

Hey guys/gals,
Just an update from this old thread of ours... I just purchased a 2008 Lund 1625 Classic SS with 40hp Honda, Minkota 55lb/12v, trailer, etc...

You can see this boat on www.dkdods.com, but I'm sure you all know this manufacture/model...

Thanks for all the input and advise and guidance... Hope to see some/all of you on the water... after-all, I need someone to take the photos.... (just kidding of course)

Thanks... the only two "mods" I want to do to it are;

a) bimini top, custom for my walking height
b) charging system for the trolling motor
c) convert a storage box to a cooler with drain.. dump in ice, drinks, food and go

Anyone know of any good sites where boat modifications are discussed? Anyone done any interesting mods, or heard of any interesting mods they want to share????

Thanks in advance.

Tim,

Grats on the boat! That'll give us more than a few options for the summer (yes, I'm inviting myself along).

Might I suggest the bimini top for MY walking height? :)...

Cheers ,

Jean
