Fish Finder Problem

Post by IFish »

My portable Humminbird Piranha fish finder won't turn on. It looks the batteries leaked. I tried scraping off the battery terminals but no luck. Anybody ever sent one of these away for repairs? Its a few years old and is basically the best finder out there for the price. Well aside from making batteries leak.

No need to send it away...

Just bypass the AA battery compartment completely and run it off two 6volt batteries or a 12V battery. The power wire is in the back, unscrew it and connect to a new wire to the new batteries. Connect the two 6volts in series. Maybe put a fuse on there too.
