What maps to choose purchasing Lowrance HDS ?

Post by lifeisfun »

I'm considering getting Lowrance HDS 5 or 7
Fishing 95% of the time Ottawa River should is the base map OK
or insight would be better choice ? I know that Navionics Platinum
Eastern Lakes would be the ultimate choice but at $300 that's not cheap

Any advice would be appreciated ( including screen size)

Thanks

The Basemap version and a Gold Navionics Map will be the least expensive. If you get the HDS-5 Insight it is not that much more but the Insight mapping is primarily for the USA allthough there is reasonable data for BOQ and Lake Ontario...

Go out to Paddletales. I'm sure Ed will plug one in and demo it for you. I bought 2 finders and a chip through him. Best price and you know what you're getting.

The navionics web site should have a sample of the imaging, Lebaron should be able to fire it up in a unit for you.
