Humminbird ICE reviews?

Post by 1lastcast »

Im thinking about ICE fishing season as the puddles here slowing start to freeze.

Last season Humminbird introduced a NEW line of flashers. I currantly use a marcum vx1. For the most part, I am happy with the unit. I spend almost all of the hardwater season chasing walleye in the Bay of Quinte.

This season id like to hear some feedback from those with the Ice 45 or 55 units? How have they held up in the cold? Any complaints or regreats?

My reasons for upgrading are. Digital depth readout, built in battery gauge, great zoom feature, wide or narrow beam options. Large display without the ring that traps snow all the time.

I have an Ice 35. It works as well as any of the Vex's I used to borrow and I've had no issues with it. Having 2 cords on the transducer is a bit of a PIA. I also use it when the water is soft, attaching it to my float tube when bobbing around looking for trout.

If I were to buy another one, I would get a 45 for the digital readout.

I also have the ice 35 it is a great machine the fiberoptics are very sharp and it seems to do a excellent job. In 20 feet of water you can easily tell if you still have a minnow on you jig. Overall Iam very pleased with it.

For those that find the 2 cords on their transducers a pain, disconect the one that isn't connected to the transducer. The 2nd cord was added to get around some patent issues from another company.

I sold a number of ice 45"s and 55's last year, and everything I heard back was positive. I have them in stock now as well.

I have the ICE 45

I love the unit.

I have had the oportunity to fish with a showdown, Vex and Marcum units and I will put my money on the Ice 45.

The info listed in the previous post regarding the two cords is correct, i never even installed the second i turfed it right away and just slid the float on, no issues.

On performance, i have fished across ontario last year including the north west and fished in -30 degree C weather and had no issues with the operation of the unit.

I fished multiple days on one battery charge.

I fished, Walleye, Crappie, Lake Trout and White Fish.

The target separation is awsome. While jigging in 60 plus feet of water I can pick out my swivel and 18 inches below my lure. I run a swivel and then floro or mono leader to my lure.

Two of us have fished out of an otter hut and utilized one unit and i have fished next to other units and not had iterference.

The only down fall is the case for the 45 is a seperate purchas, at this time humminbird does have a offer in place if you check there website you can get a free cover/case.

The auto selection for depth and digital read out is a bonus also.

Hope this helps
