Post by dh99 »

Has anybody ever used a pivoting bunk trailer. I have seen them and wondering what the advantage is or if they load like a bunk or a roller.

I have found a pivoting bunk but would like opinion first.

here are some links to pivoting bunks

they come in handy when you are loading on shallow launches, where there is no dock, and you don't want to submerge your truck past the point that you are going to get your feet wet. they are basically a newer twist on an old idea, the tilt trlr. which allows the bunks to be submerged closer to the shoreline, when the bow of the boat hits them they just follow the boats hull and make the angle of the boat hull more natural as it goes up onto the trailer. keeping your motor from bottoming out as well. you would have to have a fixed bunk trailer in much deeper water to keep the angle of the boat hull parallel to the trailer frame.

If you are still looking for a trailer, check out Excalibur. I bought a 4500lb tandem 5 years ago and it is a great trailer. Galvinized in and out with galvinized wheels as well. Has electric breaks on one axle. Would of prefered both. Style of bunks you are talking about. Loads a boat very easily. Have a 20' Larson and hauls it very well.
