Hey guys. After spending this past saturday trolling lake Ontario for spring trout in 4 footers. Im starting to re think my rod setup. I currantly have 2 scotty rod holders mounted on the rear sides of the boat. I have seen guys in the past that use a wooden plank mounted so that it spans the width of the boat. This setup seems like it would be real nice. I could prob run 2 more rods in the middle (flatliners). But I really like the fact that it would allow a rail to lean on when needed for balance in bad weather.
Id like to see some photos if possible of what you guys are running? Im thinking about useing the rear seat post mount and a also a 30" pole (telescoping) from my bass seat in the bow. to make a centre mounted rod holder? I wanted to some day mount 2 down riggers on the rear corners. So I do have some room still for that option. But for now this would really be a simple a most of all cheap way to make the rear deck safer.
I will report back with some photos of the currant setup and also the project to help anyone else that is thing about rod placement and such.
