Trolling motor lock?

Post by Troller »

Hello all,

I am trying to locate a locking mechanism for locking my trolling motor onto the bracket bow mount on my boat.. I have seen these locks before they are tamper resistant. There are two types, the actual bracket with a lock, and a small type coupler lock designed for this type of bracket. Any ideas would be appreciated. I would like to hear if anyone has a system they use sucessfully.

Thanks
Dave

Hi guys,
Yes I have a quick release bow mount bracket. It is handy to take the motor off when I am doing tubing. I only have the part that mounts to the boat now. The other part of the bracket is with my stolen motor. I have not relaced anything yet and I am in no hurry now that the boat is away. I am looking at options. I keep my boat docked at a marina during the fishing season.

Steve, there is another lock on the website you supplied but it is not the one I am looking for that I have seen before.
Thanks
Dave

What make of trolling motor is it?
I also have a quick release mounting bracket(Minn Kota) that you have(had).
Sorry your unit got gone by the way.OUCH!
Use a trailer hitch pin lock. The small kind of coupler lock should fit through the bracket hole. No one can open them(easily) and your trolling motor will be secure enough to leave the boat anywhere you want(to go for a bite to eat or go shopping or leave it out overnight)
Mine's made by Master Lock and you can get one at Home Depot or Lowes for about $7-$12.
I use this on my expensive Minn Kota Powerdrive bow-mount trolling motor($700).
See the link below for a good picture and idea of what they look like.
Good luck.

Don't forget to check out Princess Auto. They have all types of hitch locks, etc at great prices.
