Navionics update help

I bought the navionics update but it won't let me update my hotmaps platinum card. What I'm wondering is if I update my gold cards will it have the inland lake on it now too? Or do I need a different card altogether ?

I am pretty sure the gold card is purely for navigable water and you will need hotmaps premium for inland lakes. The navionics + will allow you to pick and choose which lakes you need but I am not sure which devices it is compatible with (new models only or units that are a few years old...)

Jason: If you update from your gold cards, the new map will have the inland lakes as well, even though they aren't on the original chip.

What do you mean by " it won't let me update"?

I was able to update my platinum cards, but the first time it failed. Tried again and it worked but took over an hour.
