insurance or intimidation

If they want more money they go to they government to get them to agree to higher fees. The fees they charge are set by an agreement weith the government so the insurance companies don't loose out and go bankrupt, very close to collusion. or can we say monopoly, not collision.
Almontefisher can correct me on those statements if I am wrong.
I pay alot for my boat insurance because I have seen to many boats not covered for this or that. One thing you should check out especially if you have insurance through a rider on your house policy.
It involves the items in your boat that can be taken out and put in the house most itmes like rods reels and life jackets are not covered by the rider ONLY the boat motor and trailer, so all your electronics, downriggers and rods and reels won't be covered.

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after. Henry David Thoreau

I just got my renewal in the mail today
It's less than last year, by about $70
I hope Dalton doesn't read this thread because we all know he can't stand for us to have any money left over after each pay day.
Watch your hydro bills this summer, we are all in for a shock.
Oh and the boat is still valued the same as last year

Re: insurance or intimidation
You are bang on Mike...We need money...government needs money...we raise premiums...government is happy because they . As for the items in the boat they would be classed as contents under your home policy unless you schedule them as equipment with the boat. I have my fish finder, all my gear, life jackets etc covered as equipment to the boat. That way if I make a claim it will be covered with no questions or concerns.mikemicropterus wrote:They(insurnace companies) own the game along with the government.

what I read here is if your CS is low but you have never made a claim and never missed a payment you will be thrown under the bus? This sounds like how I just got soaked for car insurance for my teenagers. Kids never had a ticket, no claims and had drivers ed but they had to pay for the high risk cases. Don't get me going on how my son with a perfect record pays a lot more than his twin sister with the same record. Cops do this it is called profiling and the papers and politicians are all over it. Bottom is saying that if you lose your job and run into problems but keep up your payments you will be treated the same as a cheque floater? I just don't see that as fair.almontefisher wrote:We do require your permission to obtain what we call an insurance score but that is a fancy term for credit score. Now we never know what your score is Andy but we get an insurance score and to be honest we can figure it out if the score is high. Apparently it has been proven that people with poor credit score have more claims. Now this is directed toward smaller claims than large ones because large claims are unpredictable to a point. Small claims though if you think about can happen pretty easy...Lets say you have poor credit scores so that means you do not pay bills on time, have many NSF's etc and usually this reflects the fact that you don't have money. So one day you need a bit of money for a car repair or need the roof redone so you " create a claim " and we pay. I will be one of the first to say that I do not agree with it but all companies use it. We just are up front with it and let you know we use it.Andy_L wrote:how the hell does credit score have any impact on someone's insurability Pete?? maybe i can see that if they are paying the premium monthly...but credit = rate?? THAT sounds like a scam

Well this is just for home insurance right now but wait...As for the auto Barry it is a proven fact that boys no matter how good of a driver the parents think they are they do not drive like that when you are not there. Boys have more accidents, speeding tickets etc then girls so they get rated higher. Now we always rate on the highest rated vehicle because we do not know that your son will not drive the better vehicle you own so we rate it like that. If you ever have a claim you will be happy we did it right instead of cheap because cheap does not always pay out.bardern wrote:what I read here is if your CS is low but you have never made a claim and never missed a payment you will be thrown under the bus?
