Hi Everyone

I have got my boat in the marina as we speak installing a 9.9 4-stroke kicker, it will have the control at the drivers seat for start /throttle and a steering rod attached to the big motor but no power tilt I was wondering if I should have some sort of tie down when I am running the big motor in rough water? If so what type? Any other Kicker advice would be appreciated.

Is the motor bolted right to your transome or is it on a static kicker plate?
If it is right on the transome then you do not need any tie downs. If you have it on a kicker plate then everything you need should be included in the assembly. Let me know if you have any more questions.

You can not tie down your kicker if it is linked to the big motor as the unit needs to turn with the big motor. You should have a storage lock that will keep the motor in the tilted up position for motoring to the next spot.

The power tilt and centering straps on the Mercury Pro Kicker are very popular if running lots of rough water as it prevents the kicker from bouncing around and tilting.

Some advice on kickers is carry a spare linking bar in the boat and spare nuts, ball joints etc. for the linking connections. I check them every time out for loose or broken parts. I often run very rough water so the kicker gets a rough ride.

Thanks for the reply, the kicker will be bolted to the transom so I should be OK. It is a Johnson 9.9 which as I understand is really a Suzuki I think they make a pretty good motor and I had to match my BRP FICHT.I am counting the seconds to ice out. Thanks again for the help.
