Tow Hitch Lock

Post by ady »

I've been looking for a lock to secure my tow hitch to my vehicle. My hitch is the class 2 "Flat" type of tongue with a 3/4" pin. All the locks I have seen are only 1/2" or 5/8". Does anyone know where I can get a bigger one?????

Thanks

locking pin

Never seen one available, guess it's time to become a handyman, my suggestion is to make a reducer (shim) and use available ones.

That's the conclusion I was coming to myself. I know a guy with a machine shop that might be able to do it for me.

When I had my Pathfinder it had a flat class 2 hitch and I got a lock at Canadian tire. It was a straight pin witha hole at one end that you could put a standard pad lock on.
I think it was $20 or so. I know Princess Auto carrues it as well.
Cheers

Try Princess Auto. they have all kinds of locks, way cheaper than Cdn. Tire or Wal Mart.

Went to PA. No 3/4" locking Pins. But I did find a 3/4" pin in a different section with a hole in the shaft big enough for a padlock. Guess this is my only option.

If you put the hitch on in the spring and leave it there until fall or planning on leaving it there forever.............

What i do is ,, 1st antisieze the hitch and i install a 9/16'' or 5/8 '' bolt
in place of a lock , just be sure to use a lock nut on the end of the bolt

Nobody's going to take the time to unbolt the hitch , especially if you put some heavy grease on the 1/2 of thread thats sticking out 8) 8)

They have rechargeable angle grinders. Not much you can do to stop somebody that really wants your trailer.

here is a couple of locks that will probably deter some guys.
