Minn Kota Trouble?!

Post by zaconb »

I have a 44lb MK maxxium foot control that has started acting up. It seems like the cable has stretched and I can no longer control it. When I flip it over one of the cables is off the track and when I put it back on there is lots of slack!
Any suggestions, do I chuck it and get a new one, it's 4 years old and was working fine up till a few weeks ago.
Thanks

The problem may be in your head, no the motors head. The cables go from the foot pedal to to the"MOTORHEAD" ,inside there is a bracket that holds both cables, the lower plastic housing may have cracked where the bracket is screwed to it.Depending on what braket is in yours, you may be able to just move the bracket ahead or back.If all else fails, get in touch with Rockys in Orillia!

There is also an adjustment screw under the foot pedal that you can tighten the cable with. Be careful not to over tighten though, as that will break off the gear in the head. There is also excellent Minn Kota service in Blackburn Hamlet (J & S Service) and Kingston (Prop Shop).
