I have a 1995 Searay 20 bowrider that I recently bought, I use it for everything. It has power steering but I noticed that at low speeds it seems to go right and left constantly and I have to keep adjusting the course, this is not so bad but the steering wheel has a good bit of play in it that I would like to eliminate. The boat is over 10 years old but has been well cared for. I am not used to any boats , but this seems unusual. Any ideas on how to fix this or is this normal?
Thanx,,
Walleye John
if you try to hold the boat at a constant speed while it is trying to get up on plane, then you will be a victim of your own wake and the boat will act a little eratic.
prop thrust vs skeg and boat drag is over come and that is being overcorrected normal for a novce boat owner you'll just have to get used to it, boats that plane and have one lower unit in the water can do this, I have never experience it much on jet-drives. don't worry.
