trolling motor question

THIS IS A STUPID QUESTION BUT ANY WAYS. i got a used bow mount and the wire was cut off close to the motor so i got to and length on it and run it to two batteries so it will run on 24 volts. theres three wires comming off the motor and i need to know whaat wires go where. thanks for any help

IF there is three wires then it is a 12/24 volt motor, Are you going to use it as a 12 or 24 volt? That will determine how it gets wired.

You have a red, black and Orange wire??? If so the orange sholud be 24 and the black is negative.

ok, now how would i rig it to the battery to get 24volts?

Is it a bow mount plug for the motor or are wiring them direct? Batt 1(either one you want to make one) the positive of batt 1 will need to be hooked to the Orange wire and batt2 (the other trolling battery) negative will hook to the black trolling motor wire. Now if you are hooking them like this you will need to put a jumper between the batt1 negative post and the batt2 positive post. That is 24 volt direct wiring. if i just need the two wires from the trolling motor, can i still use a 3 prong plug or do i need a 2 prong? thanks
