My power trim unit has problem. It's 3 ram/3 wires. Mercury dealer said whole unit needs to be replaced. It costs about $1500 + labor, lol. My motor is not even worth that.
I purchased a used one unit. It's about Yr.1990. Looks like it has a good shape. The seller said it was in good working condition.
I want to test it before ask merchanic install it on my motor. It has 3 wires (green, blue , black color).
An one knows how to test it? Just simple connect two wires on a Battery?

Thanks.

Attach the black wire to the negative on your battery, the blue or green to the positive. One will raise the rams, the other will lower it. I had the same problem a few years ago, with my 1988 70 Merc. I wound up buying a CMC 130 power tilt and trim unit at less than half the price, and it works like a charm.

If you need additional info, PM me.

Did test it.
It worked at beginning. However, it stopped working after a few times. The motor got hot.
I measured resistance between wires. All show zero ohms ("Short"). I think the motor is gone.
The unit looks clean. The motor shows it hasn't been used for long time.
Now I just hope the pump and hydaulic arms remain good.
Dont know, it may be whole a crap.
