boating in freezing temps?

Post by 1lastcast »

Id like to hear some of your tips for extending the boating season into late fall and even winter. I plan to fish the bay of quinte untill I can't work the rods.

Im thinking about using a plug to block the live wells from water entering then maybe adding some anti freeze to each well? Would this be wise?

I will keep the motor trimed down even when it is on the trailer.

Any other tips you people have would be great.

I usually keep fishing on the river until ice up...keeping the motor down vertically is definately a good idea....I don't have a livewell....In the past I had some issues with the motor acting up after the temps dropped to -10 at night....I added gas-line anti-freeze to the gas tank and I've never had an issue in cold weather since then....
