steering flex cable change...

Need a hand with a flex cable change out I'm doing right now.

I've removed the orginal cable from steering almost through to the transom at motor.

but...I have a snag...I could not remove the last foot from the motor end.

I had cut the cable 4 inches from where it enters the steering housing at the transom because the orginal step-up had bent the steel shaft and cable going into the transom housing.

So as it stands after trying to remove the last foot or so of cable and rod it will not come out the transom housing. the motor is free on its own I just can't seem to get the damm steel /cablepost out of transom housing.

help.
d

when you say the transom housing are you refering to the tube on the steering head?

what is the boat and engine?

Bent steering tube

:D You may have a bent steering tube, push the cable through the motor housing and cut it off, that is the part that is getting stuck in the tube....
