If I am not mistaking flashers run off of 6. somethin volts and most fishfinders are 12v. As far as underpowering goes I dont know how that will effect the unit.
I would check what the voltage of the Marcum battery is to see if it's 12v. If it is not, check into one of the small 12v lawn mower batterys at C/T or Wal-Mart to hook up your 'bird.
A hummingbird will probably drain your marcum battery faster than your flasher would. But it will work for sure. Just try it at home and see how long your hummingbird stays on for.
I use the battery from my busted cordless drill....I had to put a couple of resistors in front of the fishfinder to lower the voltage to 12.
Two things I like about using this battery:
<ul><li>nice and small for the kayak</li>
<li>I can use the battery charger that came with the drill to charge 'er up again</li></ul>
hehehe I noticed the town launch being ice free too....and not much backing up required, as the lake is STUPIDLY high!!! I could launch a boat at the end of my yard by the road....about 6 more inches and the road will be awash

The fishfinder will work fine with your Marcum battery because they both use 12 volt and your drain on the battery will likely be less with the graph than it is with the flasher unless the graph is a coloured unit . These batteries are the same ones they use on their cameras too . Your good to go .
