Anyone used this type of fish finder?
I have one Hummingbird wide vision. It has worked well until a few month ago. It has a problem...when power on, depth always shows 900+ fow.
I dont know if it's broken or not? can it be initialized?

I had the same problem. It was caused by a loose transducer wire. Hopefully your problem is this simple.

Even though I dont connect transducer on, it always shows very high depth number.
How to fix it?

Thanx anyway.

I would say connect the transducer and see what it reads.

Could be you are getting a fake reading because of the transducer not being connected.

rickr,
I am having the same problem with my 525. i am getting readings from 200+ feet to over 900 ft. with or without the transducer hooked up. If you figure out what it is let me know, I will do the same.

well i have a Lowrance...and i was getting no bottom lock, and readings in the hundreds of feet....turns out there was water or something getting into the transducer...still clicked as it should have, but NO reading. quick trip to Laurentian Marine and one new transducer and my issue was solved (Thanks again Sheldon). Have you tried with a different transducer yet?? if not, try that

I have a spare Hummingbird Wide that came with my boat but that I pulled off and has just been laying around. The transducer was glued to the bottom of the bilge in the boat so obviously the transducer won't be available. I would love to see this unit go to a new home. PM me if you are interested.

Here are some shots of the unit.
