Engine oil for old Honda motor

Post by rickr »

I have a old 4 stroke Honda 5 HP motor (Yr.86). What kind of engine oil should I use?
I see a post from JP. He suggests SAE 10W-30. Is it right one I should purchase? Any auto engine oil is OK as long as it's SAE?

Regards.

I saw Canadian Tires are selling 4S Merc quicksilver oil (25W-40).
Is it better for small old motor?

25W-40 is for I/O engines only like Mercruiser or Volvo. You should only use 10w-30 in your Honda.
