TRAILER TONGUE

Post by JC »

Just wanted to post a quick question, not sure if this is the correct spot, but here goes.....

I bought a 14' Legend tinny from here in the spring and the trailer tongue is almost 6' long, that seems rather long. Is this extra length for more trailer capacity or for ease of maneuvering?
Either way I am working with limited storage space at my place and a shorter tongue would go a long way to freeing up some space in the lane way but not sure if I should try and trade it for a shorter one as the trailer is only a couple years old and in almost perfect shape.

Any input would be great
thanks
J

Is the trailer adjustable?? My trailer is and when I had a 14ft on but it can be adjusted to fit a 16ft. The benefit of a longer tongue is having less weight to deal with on the tongue when hooking the trailer up to your vehicle. I now have a 16ft on the same trailer and its considerably heavier.
