Anybody have any experience on mounting a transom trolling motor on the bow? A friend has one that was modified to be mounted on the bow, but he didn't do the mods, so no info.
I haven't really looked at it yet, just thought i'd check if somebody else had already been through this first.

I Did
I have a Minn Kota Transom mount trolling and a few years ago I picked up a Motor Guide scissors mount CTC had in a clearance tent for $17.00.
I took the top cover off the control head and disconnected the wires which were connected using quick connects. I then removed the screw holding the control head to the shaft and removed. After loosening the Transom Bracket I slid it off the shaft and put the control head back on the motor reconnecting the wires and the head cover.
On the front of the Motor Guide, there bracket door (for the lack of better words) which opens and allows you to put the shaft in and then secure it to the mount.
Because they were different companies I had to add to do a little bit of jury rigging to make it fit the way I wanted it to. I used a plastic sleeve wrapped with seal sponge (like you would see on the bottom of a truck cap) to take up any slack. I sprayed the inside of the sleeve with some white grease. This allows you to tighten the bracket will still permitting movement.
I then changed the alligator clips for the connector that matched my boats trolling motor power connector.
Because I got such a good deal on the bracket everything cost me $30.00.
If your bracket and mount are made by the same company you may not have to do any jury rigging.
It was very easy to do and I am glad I did. I’ve been using it for about 4 years now and works great.
Good luck, WF
