Hi

I just wanted to make a pitch for a local guy running a boat maintenance business. We all know him as mikemicropterus who contributes many helpful hints for anyone posting boat problems on this site.

I learned from many of his posts that this guy was the man I wanted working on my boat. I had always done most of the winterization and spring prep on my boat myself but this year I needed someone to check out a few of the things that I didn't dare to do myself so I took my boat over to this fella and asked him to give it a good going over.

Basically all I can say is that Mike checked out the boat from front to back... I mean everything was checked. I expected him to stick to just the motor because he was very busy and yet when I met with him following the work he detailed how he had checked out the whole boat and gave me a passing grade for it being in pretty good shape. I mean this guy took the seats out to check the gas tank status and wiring to the fuel pump... above and beyond what normal shops would do in my books. He repositioned a new battery charger that I had installed to avoid it getting damaged like the other one had should the bilge fill with water. Awesome job... tucked nicely away freeing up some valuable space back there.

He did discover that I needed a new steering linkage that he got at a nice discount for me and installed saving me a possible breakage during the peak of the fishing year. The motor overhaul went extremely well and with some new plugs and a new pump impellar kit... well the motor started without the choke the first time out... never did that before. She stills starts first time every time now and after Mike moved the motor up a notch on the transom I now have another couple of miles per hour on top speed too.

All I can say is that I would highly recommend his work to anyone. Give him a call or PM him on the site and you will see that this guys knows his stuff and you will get good quality work at a nice discount compared to the local big box shops.

I know who will be getting my business from now on... 8)
