Hi all,
on the axel of my trailer there are 2 tie down attachments(welded on). I usually attach the tie down straps to the frame of the trailer...what would the difference be of attaching to the axel?

Hope this makes sense.
thanks,
Greg

Assuming there is a leaf spring suspension on the trailer. The straps would loosen up each time you hit a bump, and then tighen back up again. So really defeating the purpose of straping it down, may as well not even use the straps if you used the axle tie downs.

yes it is a leaf spring suspension so I guess I'll keep doing what I've been doing. Thanks for the answer.
but what would the tie downs on the axel be used for?

They may be like the ones you find on cars that are used when securing down to trailers when loaded for transport.
