If they are the only authorized repair shop does it matter?

well,if it is the same ray tech, that makes ray marine, then your garmin will be no problem for them to fix,,ray marine is a world leader in marine electronics, they have had blue water color sonar for 30 years,I wouldn/t be surprised if they (garmin) are made by ray marine tech.

the thing is....is it worth losing data over a button that sticks 2/3 of the time?
i hate dealing with repairs!!!
i'm not too sure they are the same as ray-marine...not sure about it.
thanks!

my garmin GPSMAP 76 is acting up
it turns on and works for a while then the screen goes blank with a line that runs from top to bottom of screen
I cant turn it off or use any buttons
I have to remove the batteries and reinstal to get it to work
dont say batteries cause I tried 2 different sets of batteries
One set brand new energizers
other set was freshly charged duracel rechargeables
anyone else had the same screen/problem?

If it has an SD card in it, does it have the same problem with the SD card removed? If so, try reformatting the card and reinstalling your maps.
You could also try upgrading the firmware, but be careful as this has been known to kill a wonky unit.

Why didnt I think of this earlier............DUH
I took a pencil and used the eraser end to rub the 4 battery contacts on the garmin
It works again!!!!!!!!
thats an old trick I learned for cameras...way before GPS Units
Im a happy camper now
