Navionics charts - confused

I'm a bit confused by the different charts available from Navionics.

The gold/platinum series is advertised as covering the Rideau and Ottawa river waterways but doesn't mention area lakes.

The Hotmaps advertises coverage of lots of area lakes but doesn't mention the Ottawa or Rideau waterways.

If I want both area lakes and the Ottawa/Rideau, do I need both the Hotmaps and Gold chips?

So that edition (08?) has all area lakes (Mississippi, White, etc..) as well as Big Rideau Lake, Rideau River, Ottawa, River, etc... ??

Mike: The gold map has all the Great Lakes, the Trent/Severn, the Rideau, the Ottawa up to about Mattawa, the St Lawrence and Lake St Francis right to the Atlantic, and Lake Champlain. What it doesn't have is any of the inland lakes.

The Hotmaps has a lot of the inland waters and most of the bodies of water that are on the gold chip, but unfortunatley not to the detail or accuracy found in the gold. I have both at the store that I can put in a demo unit so you can see the difference. If you can only afford one, than the hotmap is the way to go.

The 2010 hotmap has coverage over all of Canada. I should have stock in these by the end of the month. I have the gold in now.
