With all of the fishing shows about to start around here I have one thing I am tryin gto find, but I'm not even sure it exists or how I can solve my problem...

I have a 16' walk through boat, 3 seats and 2 casting pedestals. My 3 seats are, I think, 2 3/8" posts and bases but my pedestals are both taper locks. I have a taper lock base on the rear casting deck, which works fine ans can stay as-is and I have a second taper-lock base on the bow for the casting seat up there.

My problem is this, sometimes I wouldlike to have my third seat on the bow rather than in the cockpit, if you will. Is there some kind of adapter or base that will accept both a taper-lock post as well as a 2 3/8" post? If I decide to put my third seat on the bow I want to avoid changing the bases because if we're out and it starts to rain I will quickly want to move that third seat under the canapy.

I could change the post on the pedestal seat but I don't really want to as it has an adjustable height. I am hoping there is some kind of bracket or plug or something out there that can help...

Any thoughts or ideas or has someone seen anything or experienced a similar problem? Maybe I'll add some pics in the next day or two to help show my problem.

It sounds like the seat & pedestal you'd like to put on the front deck will be taken fron the passenger's side.

I've checked Cabelas and BPS and can't find anything for you. You could try to explore the Swivl-Eze and Springfield sites for complete product lines.

Short term, match up where the seat is coming from to where it's being moved to.

Long term I'd give serious consideration to standardize your bases & pedestals. I'm not trying to spend your money for ya, I know depending on how you go can get a tad bit expensive. I suppose it also depends on how long you plan to have this boat. If you plan to keep your boat for a while, standardizing now will make it you boat your way.

That is what I was thinking but to replace the pedestal mount and the base itself it'll run close to $200, maybe even a little more. The seat I'll be moving is actually the third in the cockpit. I mean, not a huge issue, I tend to do a bit more trolling so not having the luxury of a pedestal seat when I am casting isn't huge, but I mean, I just bought the boat in the fall, used so that explains the mounts, so I would like to take advantage of everything in it. I'm going to look around, hit the boat show this weekend and maybe come up with something. You would think they would have a bushing that would fit into the 2 3/8" hole that would then accept a taper-lock? We'll see how the adventure goes. I checked out the springfield website but maybe I'll place a call to try explain it a little bit more!

There are adapters for taper lock and 2 3/8 holes. They are sold by BPS. They convert your existing pedestals to 3/4" pin mounts. They are made for the KwikDrop system but would accept any 3/4" pin pole, including fixed mount poles or a power assist pole.

The taper lock is not shown, but BPS does have them. They are in their new marine catalog. I own one. In fact, I converted all the bases on my boat to 3/4" pins. At $15 US a piece, plus about $20 US for a 3/4" fixed position pole, you should be able to buy 3 adapters and 3 new pedestal poles for around $100. In the states the 13" 3/4 pin poles sell for $15 at Walmart.
