Until I get my canoe rigged with an electric motor (assuming I can), what are your thoughts on either a drift sock or a light anchor for slowing the canoe down. Wind really moves a canoe...
Actually, before I get bashed... I do NOT like the anchor idea... dragging the bottom and ripping up weeds & habitat. In fact, if a drift sock of sorts isn't a good option, then I'll probably go with nothing at all.

Drift socks do a good job but they can be a PIA if you are looking to drift a small area. If you want to do a cheap test,take a reuseable grocery bag, tie a 15'-20' of rope to the handles and chuck it overboard. Bring a couple of grocery bags in case one is not enough to slow you down.

hey right one we have plastic bags all over our waters now ,,,,but hey wooohoooo we get reusable ones now too!!
