A question: Late in 2009 season, I bought a 2006 Honda 20hp outboard and only had time ot use it once that year. It had been quite well looked after by the previous owner. Had it winterized at my local Honda dealer and stored it in my basement last fall. Put it back on the boat in June this year but never had a chance to get it back on the water. Hopefully next year! Do i need to do any maintenance now or am I good to take it back inside till next spring? Anything special to do next spring to get it ready? Thanks!!

Hi, your engine will be fine stored for another winter, if it was winterized the winter previous. Make sure you lay it down (if you lay it), on its' proper side. Best however, to stand it upright. Dane at Laurentian Marine.

Wintering the motor

You might just want to crank it over to ensure that the oil is distributed and maybe move the piston off the same spot in the motor cylinder... might help avoid any sticking... but you will be ok without adding any other oil.
