Triumph boats?

Post by loophole »

I was at the Beckwith Boat Show on Sunday and came across a Triumph boat made from proplene. I like the look of the boat, but some of the lines the salesperson was giving me would fertilize a vegetable garden. i.e. if you are boating and hit a rock, the rock will be damaged but there won't be a scratch on the boat. Ya right. Maybe he thinks I just got off the turnip truck.
Anyone out there own a Triumph or know anything about them?
(Would rather hear from fishermen, so if you're a dealer, please say so.)
Thanks

I will have to keep them in mind the next time I am shopping for a boat to drive in the bush.

Great boat if you are trolling for groundhogs.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

If you can't stand behind our troops,
Please feel free to stand in front of them!!!

Experience is that marvellous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again

Pretty useless video. Watch it if you're bored silly and have 9 minutes to kill. If they showed me close ups of the boat after all that it might have been mildly interesting, but of course they didn't. I guess I'll have to go to some other websites to get more information. The dealer had an Evinrude Etec 40 HP on the boat. There's a motor I wouldn't mind owning based on everything I've heard about Etec motors. Do folks out there generally agree on that point?

ETEC - they sound awesome. I just bought a used 17' fish and ski but had I not found that good deal, I would have gone new at the boat show... with a 60hp ETEC. They are factory tuned for trolling, burning less than 1L per hour at 2-3mph and I know people who troll them all day with no negative side effects. Makes a kicker obsolete (even for larger ETECs up to 130hp). They are also self-winterizing and you only do maintenance every third year.

Roto-molded boats - I also looked at these but there are no local dealers so I passed. They seem pretty durable - saw a video where they crashed one into a dock a few times (very hard) and did show close-ups. There was some plastic scraped off but a fiberglass or aluminum boat would have been a real mess if subjected to the same abuse. They are also cheaper to make because the dual hull (outside and liner) is made in one piece so it's very light on labour. The only thing I'd worry about is warping - very little long term evidence.

I know nothing about this boat but I had a polyproplene whitewater canoe that was undestructable. It came with a stick like a candle that you could melt into a tear to repair I never got to use it like I said it was undestructable
I love golf it keeps thousands of unworthy off the water
