I have a spot I like to anchor at, but the bottom must be filled with logs and boulders because I have snagged (and lost) 3 anchors so far! I had been using river anchors, (lost 1 small danforth as well).
Anyone have any experience with something that is less prone to snags? (besides a gps anchor, LOL)
I used to fish current, but not so much anymore, so I guess I don't need river anchors.

I have no experience with them but as long as you let out enough line and use a chain for the last 3-6 feet, a Mushroom anchor would probably be your best bet. There will be very little to hang up on and you should be able to just back the boat up the other way to get it un snagged.

The rule of thumb is to have triple the amount of rope out for the depth to properly use an anchor (50 feet of water would equal 150 feet of rope). This length will allow the boat to remain anchored as the rope and chain will act as a suspension and will make sure that the anchor does not move.

Just as an FYI though, GPS anchors like the I pilot are freakin awesome!!!

I didn't have the length of,chain.... Will,give that a go.
