trolling motor battery life

Hi guys,

I just picked up a endura C2 50 lbs thrust trolling motor for my canoe (sportspal). I got a new 80 amp hour (27 group battery).

I've been reading forums and trying to decipher the info as best I can, but haven't been able to to come to a solid conclusion on an average run time.

I always hate to bother everyone on the forum with these newbie questions, but I would certainly appreciate if anyone could give me a general idea of that to expect in regards to run time.

Worst case, if the battery dies, I'll paddle back. I've been paddle-power for about 5 years now, so it certainly wont kill me hahaha.

I think a big/great part of sites like this is people asking questions..we all get to learn something, hopefully it is the right thing. haha.

it looks like Minnkota has some formulas to try to figure out battery run time: https://www.minnkotamotors.com/sites/mi ... rmulas.pdf, and then from https://www.minnkotamotors.com/support/ ... nd-rigging, you can see the max amp draw.

your actual run time will vary of course, given that you probably won't be on max at all times, and as the battery ages it may not last as long as it used to.

this post https://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat-re ... w-spec-fyi talks about amp draw at different speed settings for a smaller motor than yours..but gives a feel at least for the differences in draw.

Truth is, you won't know until you try.

The way you plan on using the TM will have more impact on how long it will last than what any of these charts can tell you. I know there are a few people who have a similar setup so you will hopefully hear from them.

Depending on how you use it, it could last you a day or it could last you a few hours. Either way, make sure to charge it when you get home.

Hi everyone,
I stepped in to inquire about trolling motors, rather than battery life. I was looking at Minnkota EO36 motor - https://www.boatid.com/minn-kota/minn-k ... 99266.html , and wanted to ask those of you, who are familiar with the other Minnkota trolling motors. Is it a good solution for my Lund 1600 Rebel? MAybe I should look into something different (endura?). I'd like to stick to Minnkota brand, yet I am open to the other recommendations.

I don't know the layout of the bow of your boat, but if it would accommodate I think you'd be happier with a bow mount trolling motor. I would think a minimum of 50 lbs thrust.

Agree with lape0019, look up battery manufactures regarding using and charging a battery,. It's best to only drain the battery to 50%, this extends the life, mine are going on yr 6 , using el-cheapo Costco golf cart batteries on a pro series 14 ft , I normally go out for 3-5 hrs at a sod of 3-6 on a minnkota 55lb. You are able to mount a transom motor to now by rotating head 180degrees, ( head and prop same direction), makes it a lot easier in wind and to cast.
