Where to go for perch on Simcoe Lake?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Where to go for perch on Simcoe Lake?

Post by callatis »

Hi,
I live in Markham, easy access to Hwy 48 North, and I'd like to go this weekend on Simcoe (for the first time this year) for perch.
I have a 10ft Zodiac, where should I go? Any advice? Any depth you guys suggest?

jacksons point ( north end of Cooks Bay is supposedly good .Never fished there myself. Also anywhere out of Keswick.
We have been out 3 times at the Orillia Perch fest , mainly small fish 8-10".
We usually try Cooks in the fall for perch with pretty good luck .
Pike opens on the weekend and Cooks bay is usually good for some average sized fish if the perch aren't biting .
Husky jerks, red devils , any spinners will usually produce.

The pefferlaw river is on 48 about 50 mins from Markham.Fished it on sunday and caught 18lb pike, bass catfish and carp. I'm in Virginia Beach (good for perch all year)and boat over to the river.Caught an 8lb walleye there last year.

Try outside of Beaverton. My dad's friends have a cottage there and I had no problem catching perch off their dock.

I'm getting another crazy message...I didn't know if my post had gone through the first time, so I tried it again.
