Some In Season Bass

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Some In Season Bass

Post by ontariodreaming »

First weekend with the new boat. Did a little fishing with my boys on friday and saturday. Caught a few bass, but spent most of the time familairizing myself with the boat, the art of lauching and retrieving, and exploring the amazing mattawoman river. Must say I do now understand why people say the potomac is the best tidal bass fishing in the US. Did not take the camera with me on friday and saturday, too busy worrying about lauching and retrieving boat. :(

On Sunday, my wife and I headed out in the late afternoon to do some FISHING at a few of the spots I scouted on friday and saturday. Only fished for 2 hours and wow what a two hours after I found the right worm. A 4inch salt and pepper senko rigged wacky style on a red octopus hook. It was amazing. Loss count on the number of fish, some where near 13. Here is a few pics.

o.d.,

I tried to view the pics late last night & again this a.m. -- no luck. :?

Maybe you can try posting them to the FH.Net Gallery; it's easy, and then we'll be able to see your fish.

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

The potomac is an amazing body of water. Sure did learn a lot about it fishing it for 4 days straight.

The mouth of Mattawoman creek and Piscataway creek, the spoils near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge are pretty good as well.

There are so many spots to catch fish on that river it's mind boggeling.

I can't wait to go back there again.

ontariodreaming...

You caught yourself a load of nice largies. I see one is missing his snout. That seems to turn up now & again. I caught an enormous smallmouth missing his top jaw several years back on a topwater lure. Apparently it wasn't hampering his lifestyle too much.

Did ya deep hook that last fella? Hate when that happens.

Hoping to get into some nice laremouth fishing again this summer. Your pics have me looking ahead eagerly. Thx for sharing them.

(And yes! Let's see some new boat pics!)

Great day on the Potomac I see. I will let you know the next time that I am down there. Perhaps we can hook up (no pun intended) for some largemouth action.

Here is a pic of the one I got during prefishing for the tournament up at the spoils on a 1/4 oz black jig head with a 3 " pumpkin seed power grub on 8 lbs test P-Line

Wolfe,

The last inhaled the senko and circle hook. He was hooked on the entrance of his stomach. The gills were not effected and I did get the hook out. I keep him in live well for a while and he was fine. Even made special trip back to where I caught him to release him.. LOL....

Hawgwild,

I plan on venturing out on the potmac over the next couple weeks. From what I am reading on fishig reports, the spoils are hot right now. I am also reading the Weed Lines in the upper Mattawoman is really good now that water had some time to clear up. Most of my fish was caught working the weed lines.

Markus,

Wife was getting annoyed taking all the pics... It was like an assembly line. I could not even look at her for this one since she just lost a nice one at the boat...
