please recommend some good fishing spots in QC near Ottawa

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

It'll be free license weekend in Quebec. I'd like to go fishing there if anyone could give some suggestions, some places near Ottawa...

TIA

Any of the channels off the Ottawa river would be great.
Without this coming off the wrong way, most quebec guys don't chase pike or bass. Should be plenty of em.
It is one helluva body of water.

Head north past Bukingham to a place called Val-des-Bois. Put your boat in the river up there. The launch is behind a convenience store accross from a cemetary.

Take from the mistry of fishing website.

http://www.mrnfp.gouv.qc.ca/english/pub ... res_An.pdf

Yes, sportfishing without a licence is authorized for the following persons:
• a resident who is fishing during the “Fishing Festival”, on June 10, 11 and 12, 2005, as well as on
June 9, 10 and 11, 2006 (Please note that Friday, June 10, 2005 and Friday, June 9, 2006, activities
will be organized solely for students of grades 5 and 6; consult the website www.fetedelapeche.qc.ca
to find out the planned activities). On that occasion, any species of fish may be fished during the
stipulated periods according to the species and at the places where fishing is authorized. Every
salmon caught without a licence on this occasion must be released where it was caught. It should also
be noted that the permission granted to anglers to fish without a licence on this occasion does not
exempt them from having to pay the other fees and tariffs charged for the practice of this activity.

So I guess I have to be a resident to fish for free.... Oh well... I guess I should just get a licence.
