I was fishing for sm bass on a lake close to my cottage on the weekend and caught several bass
that spewed out something that looked like a bunch white stringy
worms. On further inspection they seemed to be full of these things.
One even had one in it's eye.
I have never seen this before. Do any of you fellas know what this is? Is it fatal to the fish?
Sounds like some sort of tape worm. I am starting to see alot of fish with growths and what you describe. It also doesn't seem just to be one species but all fish in the water body.
its a parisite that gets into the fish in warmer water.
If cooked thuroughly it is safe to eat but not to appitizing
There was a post as to what they are some where in here.
Thanks guys. Must be due to all this hot weather.
It's just that I have fished this lake all my life and
have never seen these things before.....maybe I wasn't
catching enough fish
I think I read that fish in the summer do get different types of parasites but these are not harmful to us. The ones in the flesh can be picked out and any remaining ones must be cooked well.
Just more protein
