Saturday - Ottawa River - What a great Day

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Saturday - Ottawa River - What a great Day

Post by Lucannus »

Was out on the Ottawa River, Launched out of Rockland and had one of my better days on the Ottawa.

Saw quite a few Renegade folk running up and down the river. I wish you had had the luck I had that day.

Pride of the day and my Personal Best. Seeweed must have heard me hooting and hollaring about this one becuase I was only 200-300 yards away.

A a couple of more.

Between my partner and I we had to have had about a dozen fish. It was agreat day.

All caught on Scum Frogs and Buzz Baits. Key was fishing within 3 feet of the weedline. With the approaching storm and cloud cover they were out feeding and cruisin'

When we fish close to cover we got very few boils and no hookup's. When we fished out by the weedline we got BIG hits and swallowed baits!

We picked up 2 nice pike, although one was full of sores, sad to see.

The Ottawa River is an evil mistress, sometimes she is really good to ya and sometimes nothing!

Sweet fish, man. I know of a few folks fishing Renegade who'd have LOVED to catch it...  And a nice pic to enter in the Angling Idol contest to boot.

Congrats on the pb.

Awesome job ...

We caught our three biggest in the same stretch of the river there... 8)

Probably should have stayed put but ran to other spots that hardly produced at all.

Sorry I didn't recognise you ... I was in full tournament mode and don't see much other then the next lily pad.

Congrats on getting fish on a tough day.

HEY MT

We figured with all that we caught we would have had an 18lb bag when we got off the water at noon. Which would have been a great tournament weight.

Had we been in the tournament we would have caught nothing. Hence why this year we opted out of doing tournies to just enjoy the summer fishing.

Of course days like that will boost our confidence and maybe push us back in again next year!

Seeweed,

Recognised you out there but knew that we best not distrub you becuase we know what tournaments are like, we did bug JP on our way in to load the boat though!
