You've got to be kidding me I don't use a MT measuring tape or even a BC tape.
You're coming after one of the rare honest and legit muskie guide from out East. If my tape starts at 10 inches and I've only boated 3 fish over 55 inches out of some 13-1400 or so. This means only 3 over 45 inches, crap I got 2 yesterday alone. ROFLMAO
Check out my website and find me a fish that's 10 inches shorter or make that looks a couple of inches shorter then noted. May I remind you that you will only find horizontal holds that show the true size of the fish and not those semi vertical shots to make fish appear longer then they are.
Talk to your two good buddies they've seen me measure fish the proper way.(especially Jamie he's seen fish over 4 feet long almost everytime (5 or 6 I believe) he's stepped into my boat including his two personal best).
Get to know who you are talking about before you spew some lies.
My bad... sorry .. you change your measurments on the board when somone comes in with a bigger fish... from what I've heard anyway..
Tell you what... I'll let you make it up to me by taking fishing for a few days... Free of course then we can have a big laugh about all of this and you can show me all your good spots.. We have a deal??
Man the heat must be getting to everyone. Chill and lets keep to the fishing, insult eachother in a pm, entertaining as it is its probably not what this site was intended for.
Good point Badger Shark,
This thread was started by Mr J as a Pike/Muskie fun fishing derby and know it has become a bitching sesion between people.
I don't think Mr J wants to know who can and can't measure fish, he just wants to have a fun outing with people who have a common interested in fishing.
Hey guys and gals you are correct, this thread really hasn’t turned out like I had hoped it would but all is not lost.
I thought it would be a great idea to get some people together for a fun day of fishing. I can slay pike all day but I am relatively new at musky fishing. I am also extremely lucky that I have a large handful of people who are willing to take the time and make the effort to teach me.
They taught me proper fishing techniques
They taught me proper netting techniques
They taught me proper handling techniques
They taught me proper live release techniques
And I in turn will enthusiastically show my fishing friends what I have learned so that one person’s efforts will in fact teach several others the very rewarding and exciting sport of musky fishing.
Richard and Monster and Matt are 3 guys we can all learn a lot from, and believe me once you get seriously involved in musky fishing there is a lot to learn and I am not talking about which lure to use.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask the musky guys to use this board to educate and guide the newbie’s to the proper musky fishing techniques with gentle hands and an open mind and to keep in consideration that just because someone joins a fishing board that really may not have ever had the opportunity to learn anything beyond how to cast because there may not have been anyone around to teach them.
Remember? There was no entrance exam to join this board, anyone with an internet connection is and was always is welcomed to join in. Previous years ago I wasn’t targeting musky but I did manage to get several incidental catches and I had several friends I had made from this board who were willing to patiently teach me the proper techniques and etiquette of musky fishing and now anyone who fishes with me will in turn be taught what I have learned.
People on fish-hawk, myself included, want to learn. We don’t want to be badgered or intimidated because if we are then we will leave fish-hawk and continue to go the way we have always been and this will result in more harm to the great sport of fishing. Think of it this way, for every fisherman you educate you save a fish, for every fisherman you scare off you’ve just killed a fish.
So can we turn this energy into education? I can’t speak for anyone else on this board but I wasn’t born with any kind of fishing knowledge.
Mr. J sorry this had to happen on your tread. I don't know why these people come out of the woodwork every now and again attacking others on earsay.
I've been on this site for longer then I can remember and my main reason for been here is to educate. And I even have to put up with some BS every now and again, but it is worth it if only I can save one fish per attack.
Best of luck with your outing, maybe you can join me for the MCI Mtl chapter outing out of Hawkesbury October 14th. That is if I still have the day off by then. Unfortunatly work does have to come first.
