Ottawa River(Wendover)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ottawa River(Wendover)

Post by Pints »

Met up with Wallyboss yesterday morning, and we hit the river just before 09:00 am Monday morning. The water was still pretty stained but clearer along the weedlines and in the pads in the bays. We managed to catch 6 fish within the first hour. Two pike and a bass each on spinnerbaits(mine were on a Mr. J special-red and white), not huge but lots of fun. After that, nada, nothing on frogs so we went looking for walleyes. They had packed up and moved to another river system, except for a few with sonar abilties (we did get a few strikes). Finally we packed it up when the wind and waves became too uncomfortable to be out on the river in a 14 foot aluminum. All in all, it was great day spent with a great guy, thanks a bunch wallyboss. Hope to do it again soon.(Victoria Island this evening for cats?)

Yep me and Pints finally got out together, we had been trying for a bit now. He's retired he doesn't have time anymore. We had a good time, but the walters were not cooperative. But I think somebody said do not leave fish, to find fish. Maybe we should've stayed in the Bay. It was a froggers paradise in there, we got a couple of strikes on the frogs but I think that the bass heard the saying "As soon as you can feel the fisherman's tug spit it out."

We caught all our fish on spinnerbaits. Thanks Plowjock for the silver and copper blades!!!!!

It is always a treat to fish with Pints. I might just showup at Victoria Isl. tonight.

Paya, only one rod at time and you can use worms, chicken liver, raw shrimps pretty well anything that after a couple of minutes smells bad. Catfish like that.

Hi Pints, we fished the Ottawa from Treadwell to Lefaivre over the long weekend also. Water was quite stained. Tube jigs in weed beds produced some nice smallies but no pike. Cooler temps this week will help also, keep on casting !!!!
