This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Registration Drive....

Post by Bobber »

Calling all readers.....

Haven't registered with Hawk Talk? Why not?
  1. It's FREE
  2. Your information is kept confidential and not given to anyone
  3. I won't be sending you SPAM. I don't have time.
  4. You can participate in Polls and discussion, with valuable experience and information.
  5. Have access to private messaging.
  6. You can introduce yourself to the community and make new friends.
  7. It gives us an idea of who's out there.
I'll be shortly cleaning up or Registered User base to remove Nicknames that are not activated. Non-active nicknames happen for a variety of reasons....robots simply registering to post their websites without activation, users who do not recieve an activation e-mail due to SPAM filters, and old users who have been de-activated for whatever reason. This will bring down our registered user base, but will give us a better idea of how many people are out there and have participated in the discussion at some point in time.

C'mon now, I encourage you to register and introduce yourself. We'd like to hear from you.

G'day folks,

Further to our Registration and participation drive, I've instituted a form of Ranking for the community based on number of posts submitted within Hawk Talk.

Some interesting statistics I thought I would share with you all. Did you know that in most on-line communities....
  • 90% of users read or observe, but don't contribute.
  • 9% of users contribute from time to time, but other priorities dominate their time.
  • 1% of users participate a lot and account for most contributions.
I thought that was very interesting and I think we'd all agree that we've seen this trend here on Fish-Hawk.Net as well. Within our forums, there's nothing wrong with that. I encourage everyone to visit us, but I also encourage our readers to register and participate in the content that is being provided. Let's see if we can break this statistic, and bring Fish-Hawk.Net Hawk Talk to the next level.

When looking at this, we also must consider that most users will visit websites, participate for a while, then take a break and perhaps come back later to continue participation. This does not affect the ranking upon which they've been assigned, even if they are still not active participants.....they were at one time or another, and well recognize that.

Having said that....Rankings are as follows...
  1. Participant - Single Fish; Minimum of 1 post
  2. Bronze Participant - 2 Fishes; Minimum of 100 posts
  3. Silver Participant - 3 Fishes; Minimum of 500 posts
  4. Gold Participant - 4 Fishes; Minimum of 1000 posts
  5. Diamond Participant - 5 Fishes; Minimum of 2000 posts
Your Stars will appear above your avatar just like other boards. They really mean nothing, except gives us all a goal for continued participation within Hawk Talk and "graduation" so to speak to the next level.

For those with "Special Ranks" assigned, these ratings do not apply. A new rating icon has been created for you and will appear in the same place as the stars for other users.

So have fun with this....let's land the fishes. :D

Hey, that's a great idea. Why didn't I think of that? Let me see, how can I make this work. I'll get back to ya.

Thanks MuskyMatt. I love great ideas.

Thanks for drawing attention to just HOW MUCH I post, Bobber!  The interesting part is how fast I type. I can come on the site and wham, bam, reply to several posts in a matter of a minute or so. One of my past business education skills that wasn't meant to benefit me on a fishing site, but what the heck?

Seriously, you've done a lot of fun and innovative stuff lately Bobber. Thanks for the efforts. Nice job!

W.

PS: there's yet another post.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Bobber - nice fishy's! I know there will be some debate, so let's settle it now. Those little fishy's are Walleyes if I've ever seen one! Sweet! Too bad for the Bass and Muskie guys...

I still vote for Wolfe to be Capt'n or at the very least the Monarch of F.H.Net. She has the wave down pat. :D
