ElephantLake/Baptiste Lake ...Help needed

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

ElephantLake/Baptiste Lake ...Help needed

Post by Basspro »

I'm planning on spending a week on either Elephant or Baptiste Lakes and I do know you can boat from one to the other.

Catch and release bass fishing is what I like to do. Am I picking a decent place to spend a week?

If so any recommendations for a place to stay...
I've heard of Elephant Lake Lodge, Silver Spring Cottages and Sandy Acres on Elephant lake,
and Sunrise Lodge on Baptiste.

Any input would be appreciated!! Thanks!

Hey Basspro;

Between Baptiste and Elephant Lake, you will have more water to fish then you will know what to do with.

Elephant Lake Lodge is nice, though I havn't been there in a few years. I hear they now have a golf course, just in case you tire of fishing.

Birch Cliff Lodge on Baptiste is also a nice place to stay and they have a camping site and cottages for rent.

Both lakes give you a wide variety of species to fish, but if bass is your game, I'd go with Elephant Lake.

And the lakes are linked, so you can trek from one lake to the other, though it is a bit of a trip.

Hope this helps.

Last week of June or first week of July. We were leaning towards Baptiste because of lots of water, & deeper water, hopefully lots of smallies . It just seems most people I've heard from say Elephant.

Hey BassPro;

Baptiste is a great lake. Try fishing the north side of Blueberry Island for bass or Hay Bay for walleye. Pike can be found up in Hamilton Bay or Grassy Bay. To be honest, you likely won't be able to fish the whole lake in a week. But you will have fun trying.

Baptiste is also closer to town, so if the family gets tired of fishing a trip into Bancroft will keep them happy.
