Got back from Palmerson Lake Sunday afternoon and this is the third try I am at trying to get this adventure posted but every time I try to save my draft I come back and it has disappeared.
Well this story starts when Mike leaves Orleans at 2:00am and picks me up in Kanata at 2:30 and we continue out to Kinburn to pick up Tenline who decides to sleep in and we have to wake him up but we load his truck and were good to go by 3:30am. We get to Palmerson before daybreak and drill a bunch of holes and we are fishing before sunrise. What is that old saying "Red Sky in Morning"...... well you know the rest and here is a picture of the way the day started
We fish for a few hours with no fish to show for our efforts so we decide to head for the Palmerson Lake Hotel and have some breakfast and decide on our next line of attack. After breakfast we check in to our room and drop off a lot of our gear and we head back to our holes to find they have been taken over by a bunch of other fishermen so we drill a few more holes not too far from our original holes and start jigging away. The other group hasn't had any luck since we left so pack it up and move on. We continue fishing for about fifteen minutes after the group left and Mike gets a nice hit and brings in this beaut of a fish.
and the first fish of the day is caught.
Well I can see by the great response this post has not generated and the interested it has inspired people to commment on, I hate to say it but if you are not in the "link" you just don't get the responses you think maybe people might be interested in, which is very sad. I have tried to show some interest for this site but if nobody really cares to respond because you don't think this is relavent, I definitely will reduce the amount of post I think you would enjoy. I am just the average fisherman that thought that this adventure was interesting but knowing from your response and that I only have limited computer skills and the fellings I get from your responses and from your limited comments I will definitely reduce my postings.
That was a nice report. It had to be frustrating to lose your drafts! I've had things "POOF!" disappear as I was putting them together too, and AAARRGH!!! that's the worst!
I enjoyed the report and pics. I've never been to Palmerston Lake, but have always heard mention of it.
Oh, and in regards to your report being looked over, some times people come on in spurts and all of a sudden you'll get some more responses. So sit tight! (Also, not everyone will comment, and I'm sure there are plenty of others reading and enjoying your post.)
Thanks for taking the time (and time again! ) to report.
Thanks for the report. Funny thing to read this on here today as I was just up here today for the first time. Unfortunately it was business and not pleasure but now I know its there and you can bet I will be making the trip up next season. I was told by the locals that the smallies are plentiful up there as well in the summer. I talked to the owner of Double S Marina and he was very helpful. Seemed like a great guy with lots of knowledge of the area. All the lakes up there look amazing.
Hey Hitman nice fish and some good shots of the lake. Thought about fishing there Sun. since I was on foot but didnt feel like drilling any holes bigger than 6". I know the lake can get hit pretty hard were there many people out this weekend?
You raise a good point Hitman. Personally I think I was just dumbfounded over the amazing scenic shots and find it hard to relate to where I fish and so I just didn't reply.
I am always impressed with the Laker and other trout outings that get posted here. I just have a hard time relating to them because I am usually just fishing for walleye.
I will make an effort to get some trouting in next year though for sure after seeing some of the great shots of what is out there for us all to enjoy within easy driving distance of the city. Awesome outing man... thanks for sharing the adventure with us
Now thats more like it! You know I do enjoy getting out and sharing as much as I can with this site. I have enjoyed many threads that I have read and have commented as best I can. I also know that their are certain type of people that just like to read about different adventures but you see it is important to get a little feedback just to see and to learn from each other. Sorry for sounding off but in a site like this I think the idea is to share with each other but if I am the only guy that semed to be responding to my own report what is the use of that.
S.M. 05 there actually was a small tournament going on Saturday put on by the Trout Lake Hotel. Unfortunately we didn't enter because when we went there that evening they were giving out prizes to the particapants and the biggest fish caught was a 4.8lb laker. and I would guess the fish Mike caught was well over 5lbs. Thats life, but like I said before it was just great to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.
