Carp with Placide

Carp with Placide

Post by Mr.J. »

Carping with Placide

After dinner Friday night Placide and I decided to hit the Rideau shore line for some carp

We had our chairs and cooler full of refreshments and settled in for a quiet fish

As much as I love fishing from my boat it sure is a real treat to just sit back, kick up the ole dogs, and just do nothing other than keep my eyes on my rod.

We were there for a while, perhaps just under 2 hours when we got into our first carp.

Placide fought him like a pro and landed his personal best at 30 inches.

I enjoy the relaxing pace of carp fishing so much that a fish, any sized fish, is just bonus material. We were very happy and the night was complete until just a few minutes later my rod took a shake and bent over hard

After quite some time fighting her, at least 10 minutes if not longer, I too got my personal best at 30 inches

But I couldn't help but get really mad at this fish. I took a moment to get a good measurement and when I looked away for just a brief moment the bugger drank all of my beer and ate my supper.

But I didn’t stay mad at this fish for too long, it was a good price to pay for a fish that fought like heck and put a smile on my face.

On a closing note, this spot was covered in garbage. I was so discusted that people bring stuff along and then just leave it there. It's a beauty spot to fish, why throw your junk, if you can bring it to this spot you can then bring it home. I went back the next day with a garbage bag and cleaned it up.

It was a great night fishing with Mr J.
After he came to see me at work friday afternoon to see if I was interested in shore fishing later that night I was eager to go. However after a long week of work and being very tired I had to think of the best type of fishing to relax at, we could head out and throw lures all night, but that just seem to labouring, so we deceided to go for carp. Nice and relaxing, two guys sitting in in lawn chairs, shooting the fat about nothing important and not all that concerned about even catching fish. Then it happened, I had one on, I'm not sure if I was excited about having a fish on or pee pee that I had to get out of my chair. Then after fighting and landing the nice specimen and releasing him, I get all comfy in my chair again when Mr J screams out fish on, darn, got to get out of my chair again, then it takes him over ten minutes of sitting time to land it, oh well we had fun!

You just let me know when you want to go (Friday and Saturday evenings) and we'll bring you along for sure

maybe we'll be heading back this Friday if you are interested.

Don't bring your musky rods, bring something lighter and let them spool you a couple of time

What a rush

Then lets trade

I'll get you into your first 30 incher carp

You get me into my first 45 incher musky

I have to warn you tho, many here have tried to get me into my first 45 incher and not landed any at all

I'm jinxed

But thankfully many take it as a challenge and keep trying

Thanks Mr. J, but I'm really not the guy to talk to regarding Muskies, I can catch nice pike but the muskies still have me baffled... :? And I'm already working out a nice little carp venture into July, Just hammering out the details...

Thanks for the offer though.

I still want to see one of those Mr. J specials in action though!

Best fishes,

Matt

I'm considering going back Friday evening, weather dependant

Might bring kpin along, not because he'll get into fish but somehow he'll end up hooking himself, he's really very good at that.

LASLO

We were on the Rideau

Obviously, due to the pile of garbage that was there this place is no secret at all.

Mr. J.

WOW... Those carp are enormous & soooo fat.

I guess they've got a taste for beer and corn. Who doesn't?

What a great outing, just like Nitty Gritty's "Fishin' in the Dark" (except of course you were there with Placide & not a girl) .
