Sounds as if a few things are a bit different down this way. Catching a five plus here is not that uncommon. Here in southern Indiana trying to get into a seven plus is tough and eight is considered a realy nice fish.
Wife and self have 7.5 pounders on wall. And, were pleased to get them.
Now small mouth are a different story. Last month, son got a six pound smallmouth. Here that is a REALLY big fish. I sure would like to get a four pounder here.
While visiting Amic lake near Parry Sound, did get a six pound plus
smallmouth.
Here large summer and fall largemouth will hit buzz-baits just at dark until hours after. Same with day break. Self, always use a trailer hook on
these and go as slow as possible in shallow water. Throw em to the bank and bring em back, slow. Don't know that much about Canada fishing. But, it works here.
Dragging a worm with no weight over weeds is so slow to make it work
that I can't manage it. Son does well with this. He also has a nine
pound large. Taught him to fish and he puts me in the shade now.
Hope to be up that way in fall. Iron Bridge Ontario. See Ya'lll
Have a goodin now. Denny M
Can't say it's my first 5+pounder but for this one I had the scale, camera and my uncle to hold it all with me for once. This was really nice bronzback I got in Que on wackey rigged Tiki stick.
