Flurocarbon tangles

At the start of the season I rigged one of my spinning reels with 6lb Seagar flurocarbon for pickeral fishing. I have used it several times with absolutely no problem but over the last couple of weeks I had tangle after tangle.

I finally got fed up and went to my back up spool of 8 lb mono which worked fine .

Is this a common problem with flurocarbon? Or is it particular to lighter lines?

The line is still on the other spool and I am reluctant to discard expensive fishing line but bird nests on my bait caster are easier to deal with then the tangles I was getting on spinning reel. (FYI, it's a 2000 series Quantum Catalyst reel).

What type of fishing were you doing mainly????
If you were doing a lot of jigging, did you use a swivel to help prevent line twist. If not your line is probably all twisted up and when you cast you end up with a BIG BIRDS Nest.
Easy solution.
Get out on the water in a boat.
Cut the lure or whatever you have on off and let ALL your line out slowly behind the boat.
Go for a five minute drive and let Mother Nature untwist all those twists you got in your line from jigging.
Rewind all the line back on your spool again.
Line should now be perfect again.
If jigging again use a swivel about 2 feet above terminal tackle.
This solves many problems, even putting line on a reel the wrong way.

Plow, you hit the nail on the head. A little minor casting but I've been jigging my brains out. And there is no excuse I have a bunch of swivels in my box. Next time I'm out I'll run the line out and as you say "let mother nature take care of things".

one thing that ive found, is buy the good quality swivels. The barrel swivels seem to work until it gets the slightest bit of dirt, or weed into the barrel. then they no longer work. I do alot of trolling with spoons and Mepps 5s and putting on a good swivel above my leader swivels seems to help alot.
